OUR MISSION

IMG_3067.JPG

ArtistSpeak* is a Calgary-based participatory arts series bringing artists and audiences together for honest conversation, creative expression, and collective care.

Part talk show, part performance, and part craft gathering, ArtistSpeak* creates space to explore how creativity intersects with the world we’re living in — offering moments of reflection, connection, and shared humanity.

Each gathering invites people to listen deeply, speak openly, and make something together.

ArtistSpeak* was created out of a desire to respond — thoughtfully and collectively — to a world shaped by social division, uncertainty, and change.

At each event, four artists from different disciplines come together around a shared theme. Through conversation, music, poetry, performance, and storytelling, they reflect on how creativity intersects with lived experience, social justice, and care.

ArtistSpeak* is not about debate or answers.

It’s about listening, witnessing, and holding space.

Events are intentionally intimate, welcoming, and grounded — designed for artists and non-artists alike.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Conversation & Performances

Artists share personal reflections and creative work in response to the evening’s theme, offering insight into their practice and lived experience.

Collective Craft

Following the conversation, participants are invited into a guided craft activity connected to the theme. Crafting together creates space for reflection, processing, and connection.

Community

As hands stay busy, conversation flows naturally. Strangers share materials, stories, and quiet moments — building community through presence rather than performance.
